چکیده

Abstract The objective of this paper is to expediently expose the seismic performance pertinent demand and capacity general long-span suspension bridges crossing active faults. Firstly three dimensional finite element model ordinary bridge established based on powerful attractive software ANSYS. Secondly a series appropriate fault ground motions with different target final permanent displacements (Tectonic or offset) in direction perpendicular plane are assumed applied employed bridge. And then Newmark method utilized solve equation motion structure subjected elastic range. Finally some important conclusions drawn that has significant influence responses demands resultant deliver explicitly directly specifications guidelines for design across fault-rupture zones.

Effect of Link Slab on Seismic Response of Two Span Straight and Skew Bridges

Highway bridges are frequently constructed as simple span structures with steel or concrete girders and a cast-in-place concrete deck, spanning from one pier to another. At each end of the simple span deck, a joint is provided for deck movement due to temperature, shrinkage, and creep. Bridge deck joints are expensive and pose many problems with regard to bridge maintenance. Elimination of deck...

Elastic-plastic Seismic Behavior of Long Span Cable-stayed Bridges

This paper investigates the elastic-plastic seismic behavior of long span cable-stayed steel bridges through the plane finite-element model. Both geometric and material nonlinearities are involved in the analysis. The geometric nonlinearities come from the stay cable sag effect, axial force-bending moment interaction, and large displacements. Material nonlinearity arises when the stiffening ste...

Long Span Bridges

Population growth followed by the dramatic increase and demand for new services created an urgent and overwhelming need for infrastructures of civil engineering structures. However, the current infrastructure work using various techniques and conventional materials for construction will not solve the traditional and continuous deterioration of concrete structures due to corrosion of steel. One ...

Nonlinear response analysis of long-span bridges under turbulent winds

This paper presents a time domain analysis framework for predicting nonlinear response of long-span bridges under turbulent winds. The nonlinear unsteady aerodynamic forces are modeled based on static force coefficients, flutter derivatives, admittance functions, and their spanwise correlations at varying angles of incidence. This analysis framework incorporates frequency dependent parameters o...

Vertical response of short and long span suspension bridges due to near and far fault earthquakeshttps://jeg.khu.ac.ir/files/site1/yekta_program/bb/tmpl_yekta/bb_end.gif

Many researches have been currently conducted on the effects of fault distance on structures revealing that their seismic response can differ according to their distance from the fault. Suspension bridges due to their long period and high flexibility can be more sensitive to this phenomenon, especially in vertical vibration. Since the engineers tend to use longer spans, the length factor should...
